Summer 2020: From North Carolina to Utah
There’s a quote that states, “if traveling was free, you would never see me again.” Oh how deeply that resonates! The year 2020 has been an interesting time of life, to say the least. We have been faced with pandemics, the fight
against racism, even murder hornets! All of these topics are perpetuated by mainstream media, and let’s face it, they love to create a fear-based society. How often do you turn on the news to something positive? Generally speaking, they’re always spouting sonnets of what we should fear next. I choose not to live my life in this vibration. I choose the vibration of joy and gratitude to live inside of, harmoniously.
This summer I decided that I was not going to allow the fear-based system determine what I did or did not do in my life. That is why I decided to hit the open road for about three weeks. I drove from North Carolina to Utah, and I loved every moment of it. There is a lot to be said about driving to your destination. While there is absolutely nothing wrong with flying, unfortunately, you miss out on all of the “getting there” whilst flying. For me, this drive was cleansing to my soul, which is exactly why I wanted to do it.
While COVID19 did put a damper on the accessibility of a lot of things, it did not put a damper on the access to nature. This trip’s purpose had a ton to do with nature and finding organic flow in my own life. I was able to enjoy four National Parks during my time away:
- Mesa Verde National Park / Colorado
- Canyonlands National Park / Utah
- Arches National Park / Utah
- Great Sand Dunes National Park / Colorado
In addition to national parks, I was also able to spend ample time in the National Forests and the quaint little towns that come with that type of exploration. The desert has always been a vibrational match for me. I long to be in the desert almost daily. There is something so rugged and purifying about that terrain. It’s unforgiving, relentless and vibrant, and she will swallow you whole if you are not prepared for what she can throw at you. I found pieces of myself on this trip that I had lost, and I even uncovered some pieces of myself that I did not know were there. I thought many times about this trip being a pilgrimage to my self.
Regardless of what is going on in the world, do not wait to live. If there is something that you want to pursue, do not wait until the exact perfect time–you will never find it. Move when spirit leads you to move. If you cannot take a pilgrimage to the level that I did, find something close to your home in nature that you can traverse to. You won’t be sorry. If possible, disconnect from the world and truly live inside of that moment. When you are in nature, observe your surroundings. How does it look when the sunlight hits the dew on the leaves or a spiderweb? What animals reveal themselves to you? What scents fill the air? What noises do you hear? There is so much to be observed when you are present in that moment. Don’t miss out on those gifts that nature has for you, as they are so spectacular and they are often the universe communicating with you. Love and light dear ones.
